Hi, I'm Mitch!
I'm a lifelong Meander Valley local and someone who believes our society's systems aren't working fairly for everyone – and I'm running as your Greens candidate for Meander Valley Council.
I was born and raised in Blackstone Heights and have lived in the same family home my entire life. This community is everything to me, and I want to see it look after its people properly.
I believe individual struggle isn't solely a reflection of personal choices or morals – it's a reflection of how well society looks after one another. That belief has driven me to put my values into practice more than once, having been arrested in protest of animal welfare, native forest logging in Tasmania, and the export of coal. The privileges I've been afforded by this society feel like something I'm obligated to use in the service of others.
This election I'm focused on the housing crisis – councils shouldn't be standing idly by or blocking solutions. Council needs to support ending native forest logging in areas significant to Meander Valley. I'm genuinely committed to listening to this electorate and letting the community shape the work.
Hope to see you on the campaign trail,
Mitch
