Hi, I'm Trenton!
I'm a sociology graduate, a community advocate, and a proud Hobart local – and I'm running as your Greens candidate for Hobart City Council.
I grew up on Tasmania's Northwest Coast, raised by a single mum who worked as an early childhood educator. I entered the workforce at fourteen and was public school educated all the way through. Moving to Nipaluna/Hobart five years ago to study Sociology and Politics & Policy at the University of Tasmania – and graduating in 2025 as one of the first in my family to attend university – was a turning point. This city is where I found myself and my sense of purpose.
As a Queer Non-Binary person with lived experience of intersecting identities, I know what it means to navigate systems that weren't designed with you in mind. That experience has shaped my values: empathy, inclusion, and a deep belief that an equitable society isn't just an ideal – it's something we build together, every day. I put those values into practice as a Board Member of Equality Tasmania, advocating for LGBTIQA+ rights and showing up for communities that too often go unheard.
This election I'm focused on the issues that shape how people actually live: housing, climate action, community connection, and genuine grassroots democracy.
I want a Hobart where everyone – regardless of background, identity, or income – has a real stake in the future of this city.
See you out there,
Trenton
