The Labor government is betraying Australians on climate.
Within the last month, the government has given up on science and put coal and gas donors ahead of protecting people and the planet.
Labor’s climate record says it all:
- Announced weak climate targets that lock in rolling disasters — 50-degree days in our cities and health systems pushed to the brink
- Approved another coal mine extension
- Green-lit Woodside’s massive North West Shelf gas expansion — a climate bomb
- Kept the devastating Climate Risk Report hidden for almost a year
Labor thinks they can get away with it, but now is the time to send them a message:
Climate ambition, not new coal and gas.
JOIN OUR ONLINE TOWN HALL
This is our moment to make sure our community knows exactly what's going on, so we’re gearing up to run a huge campaign to get the message out - and we want you to be a part of it from the get go.
Join us for an online Town Hall with Larissa Waters & Steph Hodgins-May on Tuesday 30 September from 6pm AEST, to hear all about our plan to turn up the pressure and push back.
The Details in LABOR's SECRET CLIMATE REPORT
The government buried its own climate risk assessment for almost a year, because it exposes the danger of their ongoing commitment to coal and gas.
Its findings are chilling, with threats to devastate people, nature, and the economy.
Heat-related deaths in cities like Sydney and Darwin surging more than 400%, overwhelming our health system.
Over 1.5 million people and vital coastal environments at risk from rising sea levels.
Natural disasters costing us $40 billion every year by 2050, hitting families, communities and the economy.
Widespread crop failures, growing global instability, and the complete loss of coral reefs.
TARGETS TO MATCH THE CRISIS
- Commit to a science-based target that keeps warming under 1.5°C. Net zero by 2035 is consistent with the science and the Paris Agreement.
- Deliver a clear plan to phase out coal, gas and end native forest logging.
- Drive the transition with investment in renewable energy, clean transport and storage so pollution actually falls.
- Support workers and communities with a just transition as Australia shifts beyond fossil fuels.
Together, we win
This parliament has the chance to be the most progressive in a generation.
Voters gave the Greens the balance of power in the Senate — and with it, the responsibility to fight for real climate action.
We’re ready to work with Labor to deliver climate action and a plan that puts people and nature ahead of coal and gas. We’re just as ready to push back if fossil fuel corporations try to dictate Australia’s climate future.
Together we can win lasting climate action and a clear path to end coal and gas.
