But too many people are unable to see their GP, struggle to access mental health services, or can't afford the dental care they require.
Labor and the Liberals have ignored this crisis for too long.
With the Greens holding the balance of power in the Senate, this parliament has a real opportunity to strengthen Medicare and fix our broken health system.
Greens pressure works. We’ve already pushed Labor to make GP visits free.
Now we can finish the job: expanding Medicare to cover dental, mental health, and assessments for ADHD and autism.
Our plan to extend Medicare
By making big corporations pay their fair share, we can expand Medicare, reduce out-of-pocket costs, and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare services they need.
- Ensure you can see the GP for free.
- Make mental healthcare free by removing the cap on subsidised sessions.
- Build 1,000 new public healthcare clinics where you can see a GP, dentist, nurse, or psychologist at no cost.
- Ensure fair pay for GP trainees so more doctors choose general practice.
- Include ADHD & Autism Diagnosis in Medicare.
Labor and the Liberals have built a system that’s failing US ALL.
The major parties could choose to prioritise fully funding a world-class healthcare system. Instead, we have a system where those who pay more get better care.
