Trump and Netanyahu’s illegal attacks on Iran have unleashed chaos across the Middle East and threaten global peace.
Just like other US wars, this war will not bring safety or freedom to the brave Iranian people resisting a brutal regime. Already, we have seen devastating attacks on elementary schools in Iran that have killed children.
History is clear: you cannot bomb your way to peace.
Yet Albanese rushed to be the first world leader to support this war.
Australia must not follow the United States and Israel into another catastrophic war. No troops. No intelligence. No bases. No support.
We call on the Albanese Government to:
- Clearly condemn US bombing and refuse to join any US war against Iran
- Introduce an immediate two-way arms embargo on Israel and sanction Israeli officials responsible for genocide in Gaza
- Prohibit the use of US military bases, including Pine Gap, in Australia from being used in this conflict
- End the AUKUS agreement that enmeshes us with the US military
- Recall all Australian personnel on secondment or training with the US military
- Provide permanent protection to people who sought asylum by sea in Australia and are denied safety, hundreds of whom are from Iran
The cost of war is always inflicted on ordinary people.
The Iranian people, who currently face oppression under the Iranian regime, are only put at further risk of violence and persecution by these US and Israeli attacks.
We have seen Labor join with the Liberals and One Nation to support this US warmongering; the Greens are the only party against the US's forever wars. Join us in making the loudest call for peace, not war.
