Hi, I’m Christopher Smith.
I’m running because politics has for too long taken voters for granted, putting profit, power and self-interest ahead of the decision-making required to ensure the long-term prosperity of our society.
I was born and raised in South Australia and have lived nearly my whole life here, returning eagerly after a short time interstate. I have lived in many different parts of our diverse and wonderful state, thus I feel well-equipped to serve on the Legislative Council, representing all in SA and providing a voice of scrutiny to keep our political system working for the people. Correcting environmental degradation to preserve our quality of life, providing housing and basic supports for all citizens and limiting the influence of big business on decisions affecting all of us are matters I am fiercely passionate about and am excited to have an impact on.
I regularly support people at their most vulnerable and emotional in my profession as a veterinarian, utilising empathy, grace and skills in concise communication and critical decision-making. South Australians need someone in the Legislative Council considering all perspectives and making decisions that are right for our state, not just maintaining the status quo.
