Energy bills are putting real pressure on people’s budgets.
The Greens have a plan to permanently lower your energy bills and make it easier for everyone to access renewable energy.
You’ll be able to claim a $1500 voucher (and even more if you’re a renter!) to put towards upgrades like solar panels, electric hot water systems, or home insulation. Upgrades like this are already saving people more than $1000 a year on their bills.
Labor, the Liberals and One Nation are clinging to expensive and unreliable fossil fuels to power the grid. They’ll never change, because they’re bought out by big coal and gas.
The Greens are 100% funded by the community. We’ll fund more sustainable homes by making big corporations pay their fair share.

- Greens Power Voucher to permanently lower your energy bills

The Greens will save you money through a new Greens Power Voucher scheme, which can be put towards energy efficient appliances and home upgrades.
It is worth up to $1500 for owner-occupiers, and $3000 for renters, to make it easier to persuade their landlords to improve the property.
The vouchers will be for use on:
- Solar panels/batteries for your home
- Home insulation
- Efficient electric hot water systems
- Reverse cycle air conditioning
- Induction cooktops
- Draught-proofing
That’s in addition to rebates that are already available through existing schemes.
The Greens will commit $500 million to Greens Power Vouchers and free energy assessments for renters.

The Greens’ sustainable homes plan includes free accredited in-home assessments of rental homes, to work out the best way to save on your home energy bills, including changes which need your landlord’s approval, and the things you can do without approval.
Assessments will also check that your rental is compliant with minimum rental standards.

Across Europe and Asia and parts of America, renters and people living in apartments can plug in a solar and battery system on their balconies, straight into a power point.
But despite word-leading home solar uptake, Victoria is yet to develop the planning and safety regulations to make these systems available here.
The Greens will fast-track regulations to make Plug-in Balcony Solar Systems a reality in 2027, including laws to give renters rights to install balcony solar.
We’ll also change planning rules to make new apartment buildings balcony solar ready.

The Greens will introduce a new Green Power Voucher scheme, which includes up to $3000 off the price of electric cars and bikes, as well as two-way chargers so you can power your house with your electric car.
