Yet under Labor, many workers are going backwards.
The Greens will work with workers at the grassroots level alongside unions to ensure that the principle of a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay is upheld and protected.

- Less executives and consultants, more public service jobs

The Greens want to see less spending on government department executive salaries, and commit to halving government spending on consultancies, so there is more money available to protect public service jobs.
- Transform WorkCover to truly support workers

Every injured worker in Victoria deserves access to fair, respectful and timely WorkCover support.
The current Workcover current system has too many delays and makes decisions which prioritise profit over recovery, particularly for workers with psychological injuries.
WorkCover has been cut to save money, at the expense of worker wellbeing.
The Greens will review WorkCover to turn it into a compassionate and people-centred scheme.
This will ensure it treats injured workers with respect, dignity and empathy, and that it works to genuinely support workers through their injuries, to improve people's health and well being and to stop causing harm to those it should be supporting.
- Better regulate AI companies

Artificial intelligence is changing our society fast.
We need to know that AI is safe, accountable and being deployed in the public interest, and not just costing jobs. We can't just leave it to the whims of billionaire tech bros.
The Greens will work to hold these AI companies accountable and ensure that these significant financial interests trying to buy into Victoria are properly scrutinised and regulated.
- A four day working week

People spend too much of their time at work. Work is important, but it shouldn’t consume every waking hour of our life with no spare time left over.
Imagine having an extra day each week to spend with loved ones, take up a hobby, or tend to tasks you’ve missed during the week!
The Greens will work towards a 4-day work week for the Victorian public sector with no loss of pay. This would inform advocacy to the Federal Government for similar schemes in other sectors under federal legislation.
- Bring back paid sick leave for casual workers

Casual work shouldn’t mean insecure or unsustainable work.
And like all workers, from time to time, people get sick.
The Greens will bring back sick pay for casual workers, with five days of paid sick or carers leave each year, giving people the opportunity to take care of their health, or care for loved ones when they need it, without the worry of losing income.
The Greens will commit $100 million to restart the scheme.
- Fight for the right to work from home

The right to work from home has been used as a political football. The Greens know that working from home means more time doing what you want to do, and less time stuck in the commute. The Greens will fight for the right to work from home.
